Canvas And Clay
You’re an artist and a potter - I’m the canvas and the clay
You’re an artist and a potter - I’m the canvas and the clay
For the ones who feel like they’re defeated Too weak to stand back up and fight For the ones still running He is waiting Like…
The sparrow’s not worried ‘bout tomorrow - Or the troubles to come - The lily’s not thinking ‘bout the seasons -The drought or the flood - A tree that’s planted by the water - Isn’t fazed by the fire - So why should I be
If Your love is here to lift me - And Your blood says You forgive me - Show me how I can forgive myself

The first male to ever really get me & love me just for me was my maternal grandfather. I was named after him & he was also my godfather. We had a very close and special relationship my entire life. He was a man who really lived his faith, and alongside with my grandmother and wife of 56 years they selflessly cared for others. He had a beautiful singing voice and passed on his love of singing to all of his offspring. It is a precious gift which brings me great joy. When I was in my mid 20s, he suffered from kidney failure & developmented a very aggressive form of skin cancer which turned into an inoperable brain tumor. A year later he was called home to be in the arms of our loving Savior. He died on May 1, 1995, and all these these later, I still miss him so very much. When I hear this song, I can envision being reunited with him in heaven and it brings tears of joy to my eyes and fills my aching heart with hope.
