Blessings Lyrics
We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things
‘Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
As long as we have faith to believe
When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not our home
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise

This song reminds me that God does not promise us happiness. Some of us spend our lives chasing rainbows or chasing the wind in a never ending quest for “so called” happiness. We bemoan our struggles and trials not realizing that faithful endurance produces strength and perseverance to overcome. I am thankful to God for reminding me that blessings so often do come from trials and disappointments. It is when we are weak and broken in spirit that He is strong and able to speak to us. Thank you Laura for such a beautiful song and reminder that this world is not our home!
I heard this song in my car today. It’s been a really tough week. I work in home health care with seniors and had 2 of my long term clients pass away in the same week, along with some other family struggles. I have been praying about all of it but still felt pretty lost. This song brought tears to my eyes. It was exactly what I needed at that moment. It’s so easy to just focus on our painful moments and lose sight of God in the process. Thank you to Laura for this gorgeous song that brought my heart and attention back to where they need to be. And, thank you to Life102.5 for being there for support and inspiration!
This song played one last week morning in my car, had never heard of it but I caught the chorus when it was ending and I just recorded that to hang on till I landed on this web today. I can’t stop listening to it. am so blessed and encouraged by it.
I have been a fan of this song for a long time. It reminds me to not expect this life to give me true happiness, for only life with Jesus will be able to make me truly happy. My husband and I know that the struggles in our 40 year marriage and raising eight children have molded us in faith who we are today. We could write a book on our little miracles that God has shown us when we have trusted him with all our hearts.
This song came at a perfect time. It was on my playlist years ago, but I had forgotten about it until I heard it today. I was broken this week, hurt to the core by someone’s cruel words. The song has a verse exactly about that. I never heard it before. After crawling inside my sadness for a while, I listened to the stories during the Fall Share, I decided to trust in the Lord instead of myself. I realized each time that I tried to feel sorry for myself, I was interrupted by a friend, a visit, a gift from a coworker who remembered my favorite soda, a phone call, a visit from my parents and then blessings from my dad and a real friend. God puts angels in our path to help us along times of heartbreak. He brings us back from despair. Thank you for your music. It was exactly what I needed.
This song is one of my favorite song
It is meaningful song and I relate in the message that give through words of this song . In many struggles and weakness that have done every day God will take care of it and help you to pass there any struggles that you have done. We have blessing everyday don’t forget to thanks God to all the blessing to gave it to you. Thank you for this song God bless always
This song makes me cry each time I hear it. My dear sweet cousin passed away from ALS a couple of years ago. The pain and suffering was on a scale like I have not seen before . My cousin passed away on Christmas morning. And, while many may think this sounds awful, it was a true blessing and Mercy in Disguise.
I get to meet Laura Story in a couple of weeks at a Womens Retreat and am so excited to meet her !
This song is mi favorite song ever since I received it from a friend
There are heartbreaking trials as a parent that rip our heart to shreds….
This Song is A Constant Reminder that God is STILL SOVEREIGN and WORKING in spite of our HEARTACHE for THEIR (Our Adult Children) Prodigal Road.
We live by the promise that Peter said to Jesus….
“Where Can We Go From Your Presence , For You Alone Have The Words To Eternal Life.”
This song helped me cling to Jesus and His faithfulness after miscarrying our first baby. So thankful for these reminders of His everlasting Love even when we can’t see it for a moment.
Wow, where do I start. I’ve been a Christian nearly my whole life (51 now) and this song reminds me of some pretty rough times that God has walked me through over the years. From losing my wife, and parents, to my best friend of 30 years betraying me and our friendship, God does not promise us that it’ll be easy, but, He does promise to walk through it with us, even when He is silent. The silence can be the worst, yet, David also cried out to God when He was silent and held fast to His trust in God during his times of despair. It also reminds me to forgive when people betray us, Just as we betray Him when we sin, or how the Disciples betrayed Jesus in the Garden when they all ran away, leaving Jesus there alone when He had to take up His Cross. For me This Song is bittersweet because it reminds me of all of these times and having to take up my Cross, just like Jesus did for me. beautiful song.
