If you are trying to figure out what having the kids at home for an extended time (with you staying at home and working too), while trying to help them learn looks like, here are a few resources that may be able to help!

If you have any other suggestions that are working for your family, please share them in the comments below, and I’ll add them to the list!

Kahn Academy
Kahn Academy is a resource used by many teachers for lesson plans and activities. You will find resources broken up by age group and age specific activities for them to do. Additionally, they have sample schedules for you to make to make sure that your kids have a routine even when at home.

Scholastic
With the closure of schools, Scholastic has made their resources available for your kids to continue to read while at home. All books are digital and categorized by age group. There are also reading plans with specific articles and links to explore the topics further at parent approved and kid safe sites.

20 Virtual Field Trips
We may not be able to travel, but we can still visit some really cool places. This blog has links to visit museums, zoos, aquariums, and different landmarks around the world. For each category there are links to further learn and discover what you just learned.

National Geographic
There are resources here focusing on science, animals, and geography. There’s also a homework help section for your kids in case they are working on anything provided by school.

Mystery Science
These are open and go lessons that allow your kids to engage with lessons focusing on science, the solar system, animals, plants, and more. They have lesson plans for each category and with different durations (15 30 minute lessons to 45 – 90 minute activities). Lessons are also broken down into age groups and grades.

Learn to Code
You can continue to learn computer science when schools are closed. Try out fun computer science tutorials, watch videos about computer science concepts, and even build your own projects!
