It could be political, spiritual or choosing where the best burger in town resides. Disagreements are hard. It’s how we handle those arguments that define who we are individually and who we are as a culture. We unpacked that on today’s show.
One of my (Dave’s) favorite movies is “The American President.” In that movie, much like any fictional President movie, a big, defining moment speech was given. In that speech, he said,
“America isn’t easy. America is advanced citizenship. You’ve gotta want it bad, ’cause it’s gonna put up a fight. It’s gonna say, ‘You want free speech? Let’s see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who’s standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours.'”
I know, right? Makes me stop and think, anyway.
