How is my financial contribution used?

The media ministry requires funding to change lives for Jesus Christ.  Of course your support is for staff salaries, electricity, new equipment, and maintenance of existing equipment, phone lines, and bandwidth for Internet streaming, studio equipment, new services, towers, transmitters, translators, antennas and music licensing.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes!  Northwestern Media is a ministry of University of Northwestern – St. Paul which is a 501c3 not for profit organization.  Your gifts are 100 percent tax deductible.  Also, Northwestern is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. ECFA is an accreditation agency dedicated to helping Christian ministries earn the public’s trust through adherence to seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship.

I notice that University of Northwestern – St. Paul (UNWSP)  appears on all giving records. Is my financial gift being used by UNWSP or my local radio station?

While The UNWSP is the owner of all the radio stations, please be assured that all financial gifts designated for a radio station are placed in that radio station’s account.  Receipts for financial gifts are issued in the name of University of Northwestern – St. Paul for IRS/tax purposes.

What is the difference between a pledge and a gift?

A gift is immediate (cash, credit card, check).  A pledge is a faith promise: an agreement between you and the Lord that, as He provides, you will fulfill your commitment to support this media ministry.  Typically, pledges are for 12 months.

What’s “Ongoing Monthly Giving” and how does it work?

The most cost effective way to contribute to Northwestern Media is to sign up to be an “Ongoing Monthly Giving” donor. An ongoing giving donor commits to give by EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer)  or credit card for 72 months or until their credit card expires – whichever happens first.

The benefits of being an Ongoing Monthly Giving donor include not having to call in a pledge; your gifts process monthly until you notify us that you want to stop.  You will receive a letter when your payment instructions have expired so you can renew your financial commitment at that time with the updated payment information.  You will also receive quarterly statements.

Who can I contact to become an “Ongoing Monthly Giving” donor?

You can call our Gift Receipting department to set up or make changes to your giving.  The toll free number is 855-448-3269 or locally 651-631-5348.  Our normal business hours are M-F 8:00 – 4:30. You can also email us at: [email protected].

Many donors want to know which form of giving is the most cost effective. Ongoing Monthly Giving (EFT) gifts have minimal processing costs so more of your financial support goes to ministry efforts.

How do I pay on my pledge?

Credit Card/Debit Card – You can make one-time payments by credit card whenever you choose or you can set up gift installments where Northwestern Media charges your credit/debit card the same day each month.

Personal Checks – Can be mailed to:

Life 102.5
Northwestern Media
P.O. Box 130517
Saint Paul, MN 55113

Bank Checks
 – You can set up payments on your bank’s website to be sent to Northwestern Media.  We ask donors to have checks mailed to the same address as above and include your ID number on the remittance so we can properly receipt these gifts.

If I make a pledge commitment, do you send me a confirmation?

If I make an Ongoing Monthly Giving commitment, do you send me a confirmation?

Yes, we will send you a thank you letter that will serve as a reminder as to which date your gift will process. Quarterly, you’ll receive statements showing your year-to-date giving.

What happens when I make a gift to the ministry?

We send you a thank-you letter and receipt for your giving.

What is an Employer Matching Gifts program?

Employer Matching involves your employer “matching” the financial contribution you make to the radio ministry (Click here for more information on Employer Matching Gifts).  Your employer will match your donations to us under the provisions of the university as an educational institution.  Northwestern Media is a ministry of University of Northwestern – St. Paul (UNWSP), which is a 501c3 organization; please be sure your Employers Matching Gift donation specifies that the contribution is for UNWSP.  Visit your Human Resources Department for the necessary forms to initiate Employer Matching Gifts.

We will make sure to attribute the matching gifts we receive from your employer to your local radio station following any restrictions set by your employer.

Do people really come to Christ because of the radio ministry?

Yes!  Often the Lord has used this ministry to touch lives in the most unique places, at just the right time. In fact, as much as 30 percent of our listening audience is made up of people who have not yet invited Jesus to be the Lord of their life.

I hear mentions made of businesses and other nonprofit organizations on-air.  Are they replacing donors?

No.  Some friends who believe in the mission of Northwestern Media would rather support us through their business than through their personal accounts.  Less than 10% of our revenue comes from business sponsors.  We continue to need gifts from many friends to carry on the ministry.

Do you really need my financial support?

Yes, and we are grateful for whatever you may give!

Do you need my financial support if I gave last year?

Yes.  Our budget is annual.

What if I cannot afford to support the radio ministry financially?

We understand that situations change from time to time.  We would, however, encourage you to find a level of support that works for your family’s budget.  Some listeners choose to match their entertainment spending—such as restaurants or coffee shops—with an equal contribution to the radio ministry.

What if I am supporting another ministry?

It is encouraging to know that you are supporting another faith-based ministry.  It is our prayer that you would also support Life 102.5 and join us in reaching people for Christ with a message of hope and encouragement.

Why must I register to give a gift?

There are two answers and both are benefits to you, at least we hope so.

  1. Security.  While our website and donor information is securely protected; the registration with password approach adds one more layer of security.
  2. So you can monitor your giving progress.  The registration allows you to monitor the progress toward the fulfillment of your pledge and control your giving to Northwestern Media.

Who can I contact if I have questions about registering or about my giving?

You can call our Gift Receipting department to set up or make changes to your giving.  The toll free number is 855-448-3269 or locally 651-631-5348.  Our normal business hours are M-F 8:00 – 4:30.  You can also email us at: [email protected].
